Two of our greatest spiritual teachers talk about what they know so well--the ever-present universal intelligence that holds the world together and responds to our faith, hopes, and love for others. Both are absolutely poetic as they talk about the spiritual and physical worlds, spontaneously illustrating their views with vignettes from modern science, ancient medical and philosophical traditions, and their own personal lives. Their voices are spiritually moving, soothing, and infinitely clear in spite of the cutting-edge nature of their teachings. Recorded in 1993 at a church in Michigan, the production is a clear and beautiful summary of their beliefs and a satisfying glimpse into the way they connect with each other and their audience. T.W. New Age philosophy has made some of its adherents household names, and none is more of an international celebrity than Chopra. Dyer is one of Chopra's better-known advocates and a significant voice in his own right in New Age self-help and spirituality arenas. This work contains presentations by Dyer and Chopra, followed by a stimulating dialog between the two. An enduring characteristic of New Age thought is its nonsectarian tendency to cull insights from every intellectual, philosophical, or religious tradition. Dyer's work has consistently revealed a debt to the Transcendentalists in American philosophy, particularly Emerson and Thoreau, which in turn draws heavily on Eastern philosophy and mysticism. Chopra, who quotes physicists and poets equally, is just as eclectic, drawing on Indian meditative culture and the latest advances in Western science. "Living Beyond Miracles" does not contain the latest developments of either thinker. Nevertheless, this enlightening and provoking exchange is well worth our attention and is recommended, especially for public libraries." -Vince Brewton, Univ. of North Alabama, Florence"
