50 Success Classics

The author of several other such compilations, Butler-Bowdon focuses this collection on how the major "success authors" have approached the topic over the years. He uses well-crafted writing to provide summaries of their major ideas, their significance in the history of success teaching, and their lives and career paths. These largely optimistic stories of what it takes to achieve authentic success are both instructional and inspirational. Richard Davidson's erudite and emphatic approach works well through most of the program. He sometimes sounds too earnest, but that may be because he's trying to put life into writing that is generally lacking in color. Though the CD tracks are labeled with brief titles, the package could use a written list of the authors sampled in this valuable retrospective. T.W. (c) AudioFile 2007, Portland, Maine
