On her way to the Shrine of St. Anne to become a nun and avoid being subject to the brutal whims of men, independent Elizabeth of Bredon finds herself in the same entourage with the notoriously evil Prince William, bastard son of King John, who is headed for St. Anne's to atone for his sins. But something about William doesn't tally with the stories Elizabeth has heard; as one small act of kindness follows after another, she begins to wonder who he really is. This dark, passionate romance takes a former Crusader seeking absolution for wartime sins and a noblewoman too intelligent and strong-willed for the times, makes them a target of a deceptively beautiful sociopath, and, in true Stuart style, spins a sensual tale of vengeance and retribution. Noted for her edgy, intense, limit-testing romances, Stuart is a member of the RWA Hall of Fame. She lives in Vermont.
