When U.S. Marshal Jake Taylor returns from Iraq, he is assigned to protect federal judge Liz Michaels. It is an assignment he would rather not take. Liz is the wife of his deceased best friend, and there is no love lost between the pair. Jake blames Liz's workaholic ways for her husband's apparent suicide. But as the threats on Liz's life increase, their feelings begin to change. VERDICT Hannon (In Harm's Way) is a RITA Award winner with over 35 novels to her credit. Her popularity alone requires that libraries purchase this series launch, but the strong character development and story line here will appeal to T. Davis Bunn and Ted Dekker fans.
