Recorded in 1992 prior to Chopra's rise to fame, this brief recording is an authoritative summary of his thinking on how the mind and physical senses conspire to create barriers to a more fulfilling life. These ideas will remain difficult for anyone whose grasp of quantum physics is marginal, especially Westerners who depend too much on logic and reason to understand their lives. Listeners familiar with quantum physics may find this lecture to be more poetic than instructive, more inspirational than informative. On balance, this quality actually makes it a nice departure for Dr. Chopra, given the large number of other recordings we now have from him that are more accessible. T.W. In this brief audiobook, Chopra offers a lecture on the problem of the intellect and how to escape it in order to arrive at a state of -infinite unbounded consciousness. - He claims that we have allowed ourselves to become trapped in a reality formed by our own system of logic, or five senses, and have lost the ability to know who we truly are. Hindu beliefs are featured here, with references to concepts such as Veda (pure knowledge) and sutras (summaries of religious instructions), and only when we are free from ignorance will the unbounded self be discovered and pure consciousness achieved. The quality of the recording is solid, with Chopra giving a relaxed talk that seems specifically directed to the listener. Occasional musical interludes after major points allow time for quick reflection on the material. Easy to listen to, this program is recommended for large public libraries that have a New Age collection." -Deb West, Gannon Univ. Lib., Erie, PA"
