The Surrendered Wife

In a throwback to the one-sided paternalism of yesteryear, the author says that marriage works best when the wife makes her husband feel cherished, relinquishes control of his life, and respects his thinking (even if she doesn't). She should receive his gifts graciously and expresses gratitude for him, say what she wants without making demands, feign helplessness rather than make intentional requests for help, and rely on him totally to handle household finances. Six months of this will lead her man to greatness as a provider and bedroom partner. Though respect and faith will bring out the best in anyone, most listeners will find what's recommended here as too archaic and one-sided to be useful in a modern marriage. T.W.
