Here, Dodson (Final Rounds) favors the reader with his own bucket list and how he's working toward its fulfillment. As a golf writer, Dodson had a raft of experiences, including coauthoring A Golfer's Life with Arnold Palmer, which segued into a lifetime friendship with the player. He also enjoyed membership in the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews and attendance at golf championships on the world stage. While these stories are interesting, other vignettes overshadow them, such as meeting Hall of Fame champion Glenna Collett-Vare, who won 59 of 60 golf matches in 1924, and looking to play not the best courses but ones that are more middle of the road. More importantly, Dodson reveals that, in the end, it is not the places or the events but the relationships that matter: father, son, wife, mother-in-law, and friend.
