Jennifer L. Eberhardt sounds like she's trying to deliver the words of her audiobook clearly while adding some emotional depth. In doing so, her narration comes across as too stilted, even when such an effect could be useful in projecting emotional tension. In powerful prose she explores how implicit bias works in a myriad of ways. This audiobook weaves her life's work and her personal experiences, showing how she herself runs into the same challenges in understanding others and in being understood herself that many others encounter. Her soft voice with its hint of a lisp can be enjoyable to listen to, but it also can sound too deliberate and unsure for a work that is dealing with such important and personal issues.
