Anyone who's moved 10 times in 11 years deserves applause?and, in Wenzke's case, congratulations. because her concept of happy moving, admittedly an oxymoron on the surface, will feel attainable for readers who go through the exercises, checklists, quizzes, and just generally great emotional, physical, and mental tips she shares here. The book starts with, appropriately enough, the idea that movers must change their mindsets, and ends by advising a focus on building community in new spaces. Wenzke gears much of the content to families with kids (and pets), but singles and kid-free couples will find a great deal of useful information here, too. There's a sample itinerary for assessing a city before moving. A less-onerous-than-Marie Kondo method guide to decluttering. Messaging to help children cope?and thrive. Even pet guidance, from scheduling a spa day to sticking to tried-and-true routines. In all actuality, this is a mini-guide to enjoying life. Who could argue with a happily-ever-after checklist? Appended with a moving checklist, moving resolutions, questions to ask before hiring a mover or realtor, moving-day survival kit, donation value guide, and dream-home wish list.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2019, American Library Association.)
