Many entrepreneurs' stories end after ten or so years of building a business, at which point they're eager to impart the proverbial words of wisdom. Where Jazzercise CEO Missett differs is in her longevity and in her ever-increasing passion for the business after nearly 50 years and counting. Her narrative begins when she's a pigeon-toed toddler and doctors prescribe a dance routine/training regimen to straighten her steps, and continues to today's multimillion-dollar franchised corporation, with leadership succession well in place. The learnings she synopsizes are broad, representing a spectrum of people, processes, and strategies, summarized at the end of each chapter in Clef Notes. A few examples: Listen to your gut. One success leads to another. Good manners count. Regularly assess customer satisfaction levels. It's true that there's little new under the sun; it's the very individualized tone and content of Missett's narrative that will stick with readers.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2019, American Library Association.)
