Throughout our society, people avoid the topic of miscarriage, not just in conversation with family and friends, but also by doctors and researchers. Bueno, a UK-based psychotherapist, seeks to open the floodgates and show the world a better way to address the topic in our personal lives, while imploring the research and medical communities to do better for the sake of women's health globally. Women who have experienced a miscarriage often feel unheard, or worse, silenced. Through sharing the stories of clients, as well as the story of her own miscarriage, Bueno brings to light the deep psychological harm our societal silencing can do to the one in four women who will experience a miscarriage. Each page feels like a breath of fresh air as Bueno writes with honesty and empathy. Her message is that it's imperative that society acknowledge the loss felt by these women and work to improve women's health outcomes worldwide. VERDICT Bueno's compassionate book is a must-read for anyone who has experienced a miscarriage or seeks to learn about women's health outcomes.--Ahliah Bratzler, Indianapolis P.L.
