Rosalyn Landor's expertise with the romance genre shines through this charming story. Agnes Keeping has never intended to fall in love, but that changes when the charming Flavian, Viscount Ponsonby, suddenly shows interest in her. But when Agnes learns that he has proposed only to avoid a former fiancée, she determines to flee, forcing Flavian to prove his growing love. Landor's engagement ensures that every detail of the story sounds vital, and her sensitivity to the characters keeps listeners attuned to their emotional and personal development. This is especially true of Agnes, whose most pragmatic reasoning can't hide her growing infatuation with Flavian. Though Landor's male characters seem overly emphatic in the opening scenes, they mellow out quickly, becoming both empathetic and believable. B.E.K. © AudioFile 2015, Portland, Maine

The Survivors Club is a group of seven people, six men and one woman, all of whom suffered physical and/or psychological injuries during the Napoleonic Wars and forged lifelong friendships while recovering. Flavian, Viscount Ponsonby, had head wounds and experiences memory loss and lack of emotional control. When the Survivors' annual meeting has a change of venue, Flavian has the unexpected acquaintance of an apparently trim and proper widow. A whirlwind romance leads to a hasty marriage--will this Regency couple regret at leisure at the amused expense of the ton? Rosalyn Landor's upper-crust British accent is perfect. VERDICT This terrific addition to the series (after The Escape) is recommended to those who enjoy Regency romance. ["With her classic flawless execution and insight, Balogh highlights the importance of communication and explores the true meaning of love through two emotionally scarred characters": LJ 10/15/14 starred review of the Signet: NAL pb.]--J.
