In this tribute to Elvis, writer-broadcaster-artist Harrison explains that the King's legacy is not dead. Harrison mentions the conspiracy theories surrounding the death of the man--e.g., that he faked his own death--but most of this book is about Elvis's works and the way they still affect people. Examples of continuing influences include the huge tourist attraction that is Graceland and Elvis songs featured in recent movies and advertisements. His music is as relevant today as it was when he was alive. There are even fans who worship the celebrity as a god, some priests ("Elvis Priestley") who perform religious ceremonies as Elvis, and people who are paid to be Elvis impersonators or "tribute artists." Harrison provides quotes from fans and other authors as well as pictures throughout to illustrate the importance of not only the man Elvis, but more importantly, the legacy that endures. VERDICT This title will appeal to die-hard Elvis fans as well as readers curious for insight into the continuing significance of the performer.--Natalie Browning, J. Sargeant Reynolds Community Coll.
