Knapp and Zeratsky (Sprint?, 2016) are self-proclaimed time redesigners. Their latest effort helps readers take a look at daily tasks and raise their awareness of where their time and attention goes. More than rules for setting intentions or lists of productivity how-tos, the book is about making "shifts" in habits and environments. The authors conducted many experiments, such as eating six small meals versus two and switching from night owl to morning person, and share their summaries on the shift experiences. From the experiments, they developed a simple, repeatable formula?highlight, laser, reflect, energize?that they link to a customizable menu of 80 bite-size tactics that can be tailored to individual habits. Some of these tactics are wear a wristwatch, deal with email at the end of the day, and spend time with your tribe; there are many more. Cartoon call-outs from "Jake and JZ" provide extra advice about such things as eating and caffeine schedules, the value of timers, and how to refuel by quitting. In today's fast-paced, technology-saturated world, readers are sure to glean insights from this powerful book.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2018, American Library Association.)
