Politics, sex, and murder converge in Cameron's latest. Emma, wife of the mayor of Pointe Judah, Louisiana, meets up with Finn Duhon, who she hasn't seen since high school, while they are jogging in an abandoned subdivision. An old Cadillac hits a portable toilet, causing the door to spring open. Inside is one of Emma's dearest friends, a news reporter, dead and covered in sundae toppings. Could the motive have anything to do with Secrets, a women's club that both Emma and the victim have in common? Or had her friend discovered something while investigating an old murder case? Finn has recently left the U.S. Army Rangers and returned home to investigate his father's death. Emma abruptly decides to leave her philandering low-life politico husband and immediately falls into Finn's arms. Then another Secrets member turns up dead on a dessert cart at the party where Emma's husband announces his plans to run for governor.
