New Heights In Lace Knitting

Jurgrau (New Vintage Lace) chose a clever theme for this collection: mountain climbing. It begins with a series of small projects inspired by some of the world's great mountain hikes, whetting knitters' appetites for what comes next: extravagant pieces inspired by the world's tallest peaks. It explores shape and color in unexpected ways, making use of trends in hand-dyed yarn in the Kilimanjaro-inspired African Violet shawl, and working with form and construction in the Denali stole. A bonus chapter takes a detailed look at triangular shawls. VERDICT Adventurous knitters will be drawn to Jurgrau's exquisite lace designs--but novices will find that these peaks are not insurmountable, thanks to an excellent introductory tutorial on lace-knitting techniques.
