Barreau's latest Paris-set novel (The Ingredients of Love; One Evening in Paris) is endlessly charming. Graphic artist Rosalie Laurent owns Luna Luna, an enchanting card shop in St. Germain that features her specialty: wishing cards. She's an eternal romantic, but her wishes for herself never seem to come true. Then the famed children's author Max Marchais walks into her shop, and, entranced by her art, invites her to collaborate with him on his next project, The Blue Tiger. From that day, an adoring friendship is born. But then Robert Sherman, an American lawyer-turned-English professor, bursts into her shop and her life, claiming that Marchais stole his story of the blue tiger. A search for the truth leads Robert and Rosalie down a path that will bind them tighter and tighter. Barreau creates a delightful, sparkling yet still relatable heroine in Rosalie. Robert is also appealing, as is Max. Barreau's distinct style is a genuine pleasure. VERDICT A perfect gift for a Francophile, or just about anyone else who is looking for a charming good time.--Kristen Droesch, Library Journal
