Louisa has been working long hours at a Manhattan bakery to save money to start her own restaurant. Her delicious cinnamon rolls land her the chance to star in a Christmas TV special at Claridge's in London. She'll get to tour the British capital and meet her baking idol Digby Bunting while traveling with the show's handsome assistant Noah and producer Kate. It sounds like a dream come true, but Louisa is soon weighing her career versus a new relationship. Meanwhile, Kate runs into her college boyfriend, whom she never forgot, and wonders if she can risk falling in love again. VERDICT Having celebrated a French Noel in Christmas in Paris, Hughes now crosses the English Channel with this deliciously satisfying story of love that will have readers yearning for pastries and a holiday trip to England.

London is a magical place during the Christmas season, and lucky for New York-based baker Louisa Graham, she gets to experience it to the fullest. With a chance of a lifetime as a fill-in host for a special holiday television special, a new budding friendship with the producer, Kate, and a potential love interest in Noah, who also works on the show, things are on the rise for Louisa. Meanwhile, Kate finds herself in a sticky situation with Trevor, a man from her past who makes his way into her present. Her emotions are mixed as she tries to decide whether she needs this old flame or not. Hughes (White Sand, Blue Sea, 2017, Christmas in Paris, 2016) has romance readers' mouths watering and hearts melting with this food- and holiday-themed novel. A quick read with a friendly, familiar tone, Hughes' latest brings her characters to life with real-life heartbreak and the charm of London during the most magical time of year.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2017, American Library Association.)
