Wyoming-based Navy SEAL Wolfgang “Wolf” Tate, the hero in Ashenden’s

When he receives a letter after his father’s death instructing him to kill his father’s worst enemy, Cesare de Santis, Wolf makes it his mission as a final attempt to earn his father’s imagined approval. Sheltered, intelligent Olivia de Santis falls in love with Wolf immediately when he enters her life, unaware of his hidden plan to destroy her father. When Wolf kidnaps her to save her, they find solace in each other. After he comes clean about his identity, Olivia is devastated, but her love for him makes it difficult to turn her back on the only person who’s ever made her feel valued. Ashenden develops a tender romance built on the protagonists’ shared strength: the determination to fight for what they want. There’s less action in this modern-day Romeo and Juliet than in its predecessor, but the emotional journey packs an equivalent punch, and readers will cheer for Olivia and Wolf while raging over the lies and cruelty that have warped their lives.
