andrl - When I got my hands on this book, I could see that it had gone through a lot already... the book was quite tattered and by the time I was done reading it, the cover had ripped off. xD It had quite an interesting cover though, although now only about a fourth of it remains intact. Well, I can only say so much about the paperback's history; but on the other hand, I could say a whole lot more about the content that lays within. Each and every story had such an interesting, well-developed backdrop and foundation that it kept me reading for more, story after story, page after page. Within these stories, I found an equal level of superior imagination and differentiation; while some authors might write horror stories that tell about ghosts, Howard Phillips Lovecraft might tell a story from a madman's perspective in a totally possible situation in our modern world. Having read this book, I would definitely suggest it to anyone who wants a challenge and anyone who is looking for a very thought-provoking and unique read. c;

Together, these books offer 30 "weird stories" by our nation's greatest horror writer. In addition to the title piece, Cthulhu includes "Rats in the Walls," "Herbert West Reanimator" (the basis of several fun B movies), and "The Haunter of the Dark." The Thing sports such standards as "The Dunwich Horror," "Pickman's Model," and "Beyond the Wall of Sleep." These corrected texts present the definitive versions of each tale. Each volume also contains notes and an introduction by scholar S.T. Joshi.
