The many-storied Angelina Ballerina gets invited to be a bridesmaid in a royal wedding where she’ll get to wear “the prettiest rose-pink taffeta gown.” Before the wedding, Princess Sophie and Angelina explore the castle grounds and practice their dance steps. A moment of tension comes when the door to the tower they climbed to peer out over Mouseland appears to be locked, but Angelina’s brother, Henry, opens it in time for the girls to get dressed. The lavishly detailed illustrations, complete with ruffled royal attire and an assortment of decorative wedding desserts, offset the featherlight story line. Ages 3–up.

Preschool-G Angelina practices her ballet walk and curtsy in preparation for serving as a bridesmaid in Princess Elizas wedding. Dressed for the ceremony, she and Princess Sophie venture out to explore the gardens and become trapped in a ruined tower, but Angelinas cousin Henry saves the day. Lovers of the Angelina Ballerina books will find plenty to enjoy here, from the familiar mouse characters to the richly detailed illustrations to the idea of being in a royal wedding. The story has drama as well as childlike details, while Craigs sensitive ink-and-watercolor illustrations are inviting and, in one case, entrancing.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2010, American Library Association.)
