When career-focused but guilt-ridden Ean Fever heads home to Trinity Falls to look after his mother following his father's death, he is shocked to find she is doing just fine, with a boyfriend and a job. However, the rest of the town is in turmoil over gentrification issues. At the center of it all is the town's mayor, Ramona, Ean's self-centered high school sweetheart, and her adversary and cousin, Megan, a bookstore owner who has adored Ean since childhood--and is the target of Ramona's destructive jealousy. VERDICT An attorney who leaves a promising New York career heads home to find purpose and plenty of surprises in this steamy romance with a homespun, small-town setting.
