A Slimy Story

K-Gr 2 -Dan has a problem -it's his mother's birthday and he has no money to buy her a gift. On his way to school, he notices lots of earthworms on the sidewalk. His brother sneaks one into his pocket and Dan discovers it when he arrives in his classroom. The kids place the worm in a jar and Ms. Stewart encourages her students to research this animal. As he learns about worms, Dan realizes that they would make the perfect present for his mother, who is an avid gardener. Information about these creatures is woven into the narrative and additional facts appear on some of the pages, bordered by pink, rectangular-shaped worms. Amusing cartoon illustrations in bright hues show the characters in action and help create the mood for this funny tale.
