From the creators of Because You Are My Baby

Hall's airy, retro-flavored watercolors depict the father's artfully exaggerated roles: “If I were a scientist, we would dig up ancient bones/ And find the biggest dinosaur the world has ever known.” Other activities include surfing an inky blue wave and enjoying a game of “cosmic bowling” aboard a spaceship. PreS-Gr 2-The team who created "Because You Are My Baby" (Abrams, 2008), about the different careers a mother could pursue and how she would use them to benefit her baby, continues that same concept here. The different professions the father tries range from famous (Hollywood director and baseball player) to adventurous (explorer and ranger) to out of this worldliterally. North uses simple "if]then" structured rhymes that beg to be read aloud. "If I were a librarian, we could venture anywhere./Wherever we decide to go, a book would take us there." The father, his daughter, and her doll ride a book like a magic carpet. Hall again creates fun-filled, full-page watercolor cartoon illustrations in the same retro style as the first book. Preschool In this companion to Because You Are My Baby (2008), written in a mothers loving voice, it is Daddy who makes a preschoolers dreams come true. Playful rhyme and uncluttered watercolor spreads depict the two together in exciting, invented scenarios: Daddy as a pilot who flies his daughter to school and impresses all of her friends; Daddy as an inventor who makes a high-tech tree house.
