When a fire rips through the camp at the dig, Luca seizes the opportunity to abduct Jane. As part of an effort to rescue Jane, Seth, who possesses supernatural skills, devises a scheme to trap Luca by agreeing to rob the bank that contains Cira’s treasure. The magnetic relationship between Jane and Seth adds heat to the tense plot. Those who like their romantic suspense with a dash of the paranormal will be pleased. Elisabeth Rodgers narrates this thriller, packed with a diverse range of characters. Eve Duncan's adult daughter, Jane, finds herself the target of a psychopath who has romantic designs. Her solution is to team up with her ex-love interest, Seth Cabel, who has mystical powers, to put a stop to the threat. Rodgers seamlessly slips between a variety of accents and character portrayals, including an authentic-sounding Scottish accent and a believable young boy. Her strong voicings help listeners follow the twisting story. Her clarity and emphasis are particularly important because this is the 27th book in the Eve Duncan series and the wide cast of characters with their diverse back stories might be confusing for those who aren't somewhat familiar with them.
