Raised in the violent motorcycle club (MC) environment, Breezy Simmons has finally escaped that scene and begun a new life. When her father kidnaps her toddler son and threatens to harm him, Breezy must find Steele, her son's father, whom she once adored but who swept her aside, and warn him that her father's MC is out to get him. Steele, aka Lyov Russak, isn't about to let the one woman he could never forget get away again, especially when they now have a child who needs their help. Interclub rivalries and violence keep the story moving, and the presence of well-drawn, diverse characters keeps fans engaged. VERDICT Hard-driving, gritty, and raw, Feehan's latest foray into her motorcycle club world--with links to her "Northern California Coast" series--is a hands-down winner. Feehan (Leopard's Run) lives on the Northern California coast.

In the second (following Judgment Road, 2018) of her Torpedo Ink series about a motorcycle club made up of former brutally abused Russian orphans who have banded together to go after pedophiles and sex traffickers, Breezy Simmons returns to ask for their help. Although she had, basically, been given to Steele, the vice president of Torpedo Ink, by her father, Steele sent her away when he found out she was underage. Despite learning to live on her own after bearing Steele's son, Zane, she was unable to keep Zane from being kidnapped by her father. She now needs Steele and Torpedo Ink to help get him back. As the story unfolds, the full complexity of Steele's feelings for and concerns about Breezy and Zane comes into focus. Feehan has written a very erotic tale but one that is a cut above the usual bad-boy motorcycle-club romance, particularly become of its depiction of adult survivors of sexual and psychological abuse.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2019, American Library Association.)
