Someone Knows

Troubled teens, disturbed adults, and a twenty-year-old secret--all come full circle when Allie Garvey returns to her hometown for a high school friend's funeral. Narrator Brittany Pressley portrays Allie and the chapters from the points of view of the female characters. Pressley renders Allie's clinically depressed mom with a sometimes frenetic monotone, and Allie's queen bee girlfriend, Sasha, with bored entitlement. Pressley is to be commended for portraying Allie's almost hysterical crying while delivering dialogue that is still comprehensible. Ali Fliakos narrates the male characters' chapters, capably depicting the teenage boys' veneers of overconfident swagger that hides their individual insecurities. The use of alternating narrators adds depth to the various characters' perspectives as this tragic story unfolds. N.M.C. � AudioFile 2019, Portland, Maine
