Marian Hussey masterfully narrates this grand romantic adventure. Sidney Honeywell writes travel adventures as "Mrs. Gordon," though she has never actually been outside of England. Harry, the Earl of Brenton, who is writing a book about his years in Egypt, seeks to expose her as a fake. The two end up in Egypt as part of a wager, accompanied by the three elderly founders of the Lady Traveler's Society, who are also travel novices, ironically. Hussey's crisp delivery is the perfect complement to the author's witty dialogue. Sidney's excitement over seeing Egypt for the first time is unmistakable, and Harry's cynicism is the perfect counterpoint. Hussey's narration juxtaposes these two characters beautifully, and listeners will laugh out loud at their elderly companions' antics. L.C.L. AudioFile 2018, Portland, Maine
