This dramatic sequel to The Wives We Play (2019) picks up the story of Kimera Davis attempting to put her life back together after her disastrous marriage to wealthy polygamist Leo Owusu. Leo's first wife, Tina, attempted to kill Kimera and her unborn baby, but Leo saved them by faking his death and leaving Kimera a substantial sum of money. However, Leo isn't ready to turn his back on Kimera and their son, Jamaal, who was born prematurely after the attack. Shocking events unfold that make Kimera realize that all her secrets and lies have put everyone she loves in jeopardy and that when it comes to being married to Leo, there is no escaping him. This second installment in Cole's Unconditional series is quite a page-turner, but without reading the first book readers will get lost in all of the suspenseful plot twists.
