This work, based on family memoirs, shows us the growth of Sarah Prine from girl to woman. Through Apache raids, widowhood (twice), disappointments and hard living, we are shown what type of person settled the West in the late 1800s. Actress Valerie Leonard gives an impassioned reading of this diary. She performs Sarah with a Southern accent, expressing her anger at falling for a scoundrel, her fear of the Apache, and grief at the loss of family members, including her second husband.
