Hill's tightly written, satisfying sequel to 2006's Getting Hers
finds high-class madam Tess McDonald, chic businesswoman Kimberly Shepherd-Benning and East Harlem car thief Nicole Perez living the high life in Aruba, satisfied by the results of their triple murder conspiracy. Special Agent Vincent Royal tracks down Tess, who shoots him for his trouble, then changes her mind and gets him to a doctor, while Vincent reveals that he wants Tess to leave her Aruba house of sin and settle down with him. Meanwhile, Nicole schemes to replace Tess's possibly untrustworthy assistant, Charrie. Hill's smooth plotting and keen pacing keeps the pages turning as the consequences of opening “Pandora's box of revenge” are revealed.

This novel is the accomplished sequel to Hills Getting Hers (2005), continuing the tale of two sisters on opposite sides of the law. In alternating chapters, both move on in brand-new directions, both geographically and personally. In sunny Aruba, sister Tess struggles through the continuing consequences of the secret pact she made with Kim and Nicole back in New York, similar to the murderous agreement at the center of Patricia Highsmiths Strangers on a Train, as the three of them come together to establish their take on the worlds oldest profession in a new country. In snowy Colorado, sister Tracy struggles alone to leave her identity as a New York ADA behind and embrace her newly created one as part-time library worker Victoria Styleswhich has come to include an attractive fireman, tempting her with the intimacy she has never known. Meanwhile, much older decisions come back to haunt Tess. These characters move with an emotional integrity and thoughtfulness missing from other titles in the genre.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2007, American Library Association.)
