In Wright’s sexy second WellSpring contemporary (after Touched by You), corporate attorney Kennedi Robinson crashes into the life of straitlaced Parker Wells Jr. when she rear-ends his truck on her first day back in Wellspring, Mich., where she grew up. She’s recently divorced and only planning to be in town for a month, but Parker’s good looks, charm, and kindness pull her in despite her reluctance to trust another man. Parker has enough on his plate—he’s dealing with his father’s shady business dealings and his greedy ex-stepmother, plus his wayward brother and newly discovered sister—but he’s willing to make room for Kennedi, even when she accuses him of being part of his father’s crimes. With the help of Kennedi’s vivacious aunt, Anny, the couple tries to make things work, but Kennedi’s still wracked with trauma from discovering the bodies of her murdered parents years earlier, while Parker deals with his own family drama. The heat is high in this lustful tale, but quick resolutions of complex legal matters and flimsy details of secondary plots leave a lot to be desired. Agent: Sara Camilli, Sara Camilli Agency.

A corporate lawyer returns to her hometown and falls in love with a man trying to redeem his family's reputation even though she's not sure she can trust him.Kennedi Robinson has suffered her fair share of tragedies in the past few years: the sudden deaths of both her parents followed by a bad marriage and painful divorce. Needing a boost and some time to evaluate her life, she decides to visit her aunt in her hometown of Wellspring, Michigan. As soon as she gets back to town, Kennedi meets the town's golden boy, Parker Wells, in a minor fender bender. He's handsome and the attraction between them is palpable, but Kennedi is determined not to trust her heart again. The development of the internal and external conflicts is overly drawn out, but once the pieces fall into place, there's pleasing complexity and depth to both Kennedi and Parker. She's suffered too much hurt in the past and is completely closed off, while he is struggling to clean up his family's name and business. The conflict between them intensifies when Kennedi discovers that Parker's company wants to buy her aunt's land with an unfair contract that is full of loopholes. The evolving relationship between the two is full of false starts, which is frustrating but authentic. Their fears and worries are too deep-seated to just disappear, but Wright (Touched by You, 2018, etc.) carefully develops a large, loving cast of family and friends who help Kennedi and Parker learn to take a chance on love. Some of the action is too quickly resolved to be satisfying, though, especially as it relates to Parker's business conflicts.A pleasant romance that focuses on the emotional development of the heroine as she learns to trust her heart in both business and romance.

Determined to restore Wellspring Water Corporation's reputation and get the company on the right track, Parker Wells Jr., interim CEO after a massive heart attack puts his father in a coma, has his hands full just untangling the crooked deals his father and some of the board members had concocted. He certainly doesn't need to learn that he and his siblings have a sister they never knew about, or to have a woman he is interested in, gorgeous corporate attorney Kennedi Robinson, accuse him of being as untrustworthy as his patriarch. But Parker is on a quest, and he doesn't miss a beat: he's going to straighten out the family legacy, whatever it takes, and he's not about to lose a chance with Kennedi. VERDICT A responsible hero bent on doing the right thing and a conflicted heroine struggling to deal with long-held grief find love amid chaos in a romance rife with messy family dynamics, underhanded business tactics, and assorted slimy villains, most of whom get their comeuppance. Wright (Touched by You) lives near Ann Arbor, MI.

Kennedi Robinson doesn't know that the new CEO of Wellspring Water is a good man; she only knows that the company that gave rise to her idyllic hometown has been involved in shady land-grabbing deals for decades. Corporate attorney Kennedi's instinct is to be even more suspicious about the legitimacy of an offer to buy her aunt's land, but Parker Wells, Jr., is not like his father, who was ruthless both in business and family. A meet-cute fender bender brings these two together with a jolt, and Kennedi can't deny the sparks that fly between them, nor can she avoid bumping into him in the charming small town of Wellspring, Michigan, where everyone is connected. Parker must convince Kennedi that his intentions toward her and the deal with her family are good, as well as show the townspeople that he will put their best interests above the company's.
