The Backward Season

13iamgroot - "The Backward Season," the third and final book in the wishing day trilogy, is about Ava, the youngest Blok sister, and Emily when she was thirteen. It was a wonderful book to wrap up the series, though the ending didn't really make sense to me. Ava feels like she needs to solve all of her families problems by using her wishes to fix them. She puts all the pieces together and solves the mystery, though not everyone listens to her because she is the "baby" of the family. This book was written very well, except to me it sometimes got a little confusing because so many parts of the book would clash together at certain points in the story. This book, as well as the whole series, was pretty good, but it wasn't a favorite for me. The idea was wonderful, but when it all came together it just didn't fit perfectly, it felt like something was missing once I finished it, kind of like when you can't find the last piece of a puzzle. It wasn't my style of book but middle school readers who like more mysterious fantasy books might find this trilogy to be an interesting read.
