DOGO Books
jc20 - The book, Earth fall: Retribution, is scientific fiction book that contains interesting content and dramatic scenes. The story is about how the human will face the alien invasions. The main character Sam join the resistance, their team are assigned to go to Tokyo and disable their Voidborn technology. I think the main character in the story is very heroic person, because he risk his life trying to save his teammate from the emphesize the bravery of the protagonist. I would definitely recommend this book because it uses a lot of imagery which helps me understand the story and it gives a image of what is happening to the content. While reading this book, I would want to be part of the story and join the excitement. Alien invading the earth, and I also wants to see how the aliens looks like in the story and their strength to do things.

One boy discovers his crucial role in the resistance against the aliens who enslaved humanity through mind control. It's been 18 months since alien ships appeared on Earth and emitted a control signal that wiped humans' minds clean and turned them into slave labor. Sam, immune to the signal, fears he is the last free human and struggles to dodge the invaders, whose alien physiology is a "seamless hybridization of the organic and the mechanical." A bad encounter with one leaves him with a dangerously infected wound, forcing him to risk leaving his hiding place during daylight for medicine--a near-hopeless mission. He's rescued, however, by a member of the kid-populated resistance he didn't know existed and quickly trains into one of their best Ops Team commandos. Through a series of dangerous missions--shootouts and explosions ahoy!--the resistance learns about the invaders and how to fight them, but it's really after things turn for the worse late in the story that most of the exposition happens in one giant, 20-page infodump. Morally ambiguous decisions of the ends-justify-the-means nature add color to a straightforward heroic-rebellion plot. The prose leans toward the verbose, at its worst in stilted, padded dialogue. Walden writes more naturally in the exciting action scenes that effectively drive the plot to its sequel-promising conclusion. For fans of action above all else. (Science fiction. 8-13)

Gr 6-10-When giant flying saucers begin hovering over the world's major cities, people are not sure what to think. Unfortunately, they do not have long to worry about it; soon the alien artifacts awaken, sending the world's inhabitants into a coordinated trance. These zombielike slaves walk, work, and sleep in cold calculated rows monitored by squidlike biomechanical drones. Sam, the only member of his family unphased by the alien broadcast, joins a resistance group. The teenagers, with the help of a few surviving adults, maintain their lucidity and gear up to fight the invaders. Even with the expert training they receive from mysterious underground benefactors, it may not be enough to stop the biomechanical army that has taken the world hostage. Though light on character development, this is a fast-moving story with nail-biting tension. The dystopian London is gritty and well described, with the novel's only real fault being some confusing action sequences. While the book lacks the depth of character, plot twists, and broad appeal of Rick Yancey's riveting 5th Wave (Putnam, 2013 ), fans of aliens and/or dystopian futures will be more than satisfied with this offering.-Devin Burritt, Wells Public Library, ME
