Grades 2-5 If there was ever a holiday that was perfect for a crafts book, its Valentines Day. Thisbrief volume opens with an introduction to the holiday (though it states some speculation as fact) and then proceeds to the various projects, which include a cupid, heart sculpture, andlacy heart card. Several of the projects use patterns that can be traced from the book. Author McGee is a paper artist, but for the most part, the craftshe offers are simple enough to execute. Scissor work is necessary, especially in the Lacy Valentine, and inthe DanishWoven Heart Basket, somemanual dexterity is required.McGee offers a little historical perspective on some of the projects, and ashort list of books and Web sites completes this entry in the Paper Craft Fun for Holidays series.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2008, American Library Association.)
