Barth charms in the complex second Shore Secrets contemporary (after Up To Me). After park ranger Casey Hobbes saves sociology professor Zane Buchanan from hypothermia at Seneca Lake in Geneva, N.Y.âthe result of an ill-advised scuba diveâshe falls fast and hard for him. The gorgeous professor is considering a job offer nearby, and Casey hopes he takes it and sticks around. The crackling sexual chemistry is there and mutual, but thereâs a major wrinkle: in addition to teaching, Zane is an author and an expert on cultsâand Casey is the lone survivor of the Sunshine Seekers, the one that Zane has called his âHoly Grail.â After Zane learns that the survivor is in his new townâbut not who that person isâhe is determined to find her and get the story. Casey is equally determined to keep her secret. Barthâs multi-layered characters make this a satisfying romance with an unusual and very appealing setup.
