This updated text from Mason and Kreger-well-known contributors to the borderline personality disorder (BPD) literature-offers a wealth of information and support for loved ones. Initial chapters provide readers with an understanding of BPD, including information on diagnosis, characteristic behaviors, and myths and realities. Subsequent sections present practical advice, such as the importance of a safety plan, as well as coping mechanisms and communication techniques. Insight from interviews with a variety of physicians, researchers, and mental health professionals is incorporated throughout. There are separate chapters written specifically for parents and those in relationships. Readers will appreciate the personal stories of individuals with BPD and family members. A bibliography of other useful print materials, along with a listing of Internet resources and organizations, rounds out the text. Verdict This informative, well-written book is highly recommended for relatives and significant others of someone with BPD.-John Siegel, Univ. of Arkansas Lib., Little Rock
