Solin (The Smartest Investment Book You'll Ever Read) adds another book to his series, this one designed to teach readers about "growing, spending, and enjoying your money." Short chapters that conclude with a one-sentence "What's the Point?" summary cover, in a simple, no-nonsense style, areas of personal finance ranging from home buying and insurance to retirement planning and investing, with a focus on do-it-yourself planning and money management. While Solin favors a hands-off approach when it comes to investing, he recommends using fee-only advisers to assist with the more complicated financial decisions. The glossary will serve as an invaluable resource for novices attempting to understand the complexities of personal finance. VERDICT This compact book doesn't have the depth of such personal-finance guides as Jane Bryant Quinn's Making the Most of Your Money Now, but the short chapters are an adequate introduction to money management. The tie-in to mint.com, a free online financial planning site, makes Solin's ideas immediately practicable.--Elizabeth Nelson, UOP Lib., Des Plaines, IL
