Thinking about changing jobs, perhaps even your entire career? Apparently you're not alone. Kreamer's (It's Always Personal) book is based on the results of three annual surveys done from 2012 to 2014 looking at 650-850 peoples' work lives and their attitudes and predictions for the future. Each chapter opens with a brief introduction by a well-known figure, including Anna Quindlen, Po Bronson, Jane Pauley, Jim Cramer, Sheryl Sandberg, Tory Burch, and David Carr, discussing their careers and the risks they've taken. Four of the seven chapters are devoted to different personality types--pioneers, thinkers, defenders, drifters--identified through the survey results and how each reacts to risk and change in both their personal and work lives. Using respondents' stories and data from the survey results, the author demonstrates how each personality type impacts an individual's choices. The remaining chapters introduce and sum up the research and discuss how chance affects us overall. VERDICT Well-written with intriguing findings, this quick and relevant read is recommended for public libraries and career collections.--Susan Hurst, Miami Univ. Libs., Oxford, OH
