Coauthors Koh (founder, Boston Mamas) and Dornfest (founder, Parent Hacks), who have made parenting, blogging, and consulting their new careers, here offer "type A" moms information on how to stop doing everything, a problem they term "wrestling with abundance." Worksheets, checklists, and space for reflection allow parents to assess their own values and readily find the time wasters and undesirable obligations that can make parenting such an intense and frenzied experience. Likening gut instinct to an "inner bus driver," they encourage parents to take an inventory of daily activities and assess the associated feelings that accompany those activities, thus seeing clearly where to thin out and/or discard those activities that feel instinctively wrong or superfluous. VERDICT Covering everything from clutter to playtime to meals, Koh and Dornfest help readers recognize exactly where their time goes. For parents who feel the pressure to partake of every activity and perform to perfection, there are solid ideas here for chilling out and not running your family like a corporation.
