Grades 7-10 Focusing on current and divisive topics, the Thinking Critically series (3 new titles) provides readers with informative background information on each topic discussed, along with facts and statements used to support each side of the issues presented. Fake News examines the relatively new issue of fake news, its origins, the influence fake news has on public opinion, and the roles the news media and social media play in regards to distributing or controlling fake news. Each title provides separate chapters discussing different issues within the larger topic, with arguments provided for and against each individual issue. Quotes, facts, and illustrated charts are integrated into the text, which concludes with source notes and a list of related organizations. Each chapter is well organized, beginning with a summary of arguments for and against its highlighted topic, and the cases included will keep readers wanting to learn more.
