Grades 7-12 Scheduling, packing, organizing, and negotiating are all skills that would have helped me a lot, writes Buscemi in her personal introduction to this useful title for kids who shuttle between divorced parents. Buscemis approach is holistic: by tackling kids logistical and practical concerns, she hopes to help alleviate some of the anxiety and culture shock that young peoplewith two homes often encounter. Written in acasual, genuine tone, the substantive chapters begin with valuable questions that help kids assess whether their basic needs for privacy and comfort are met in each household. Later sections address topics such as financial independence, organization, and how best to talk with parents about tough subjects. Throughout, real teens share their views about thepros and cons of living with divorced parents as well as the eventual acceptance and forgiveness that many discover. Like the text, Muchas quirky cartoon illustrations find humor in the complicated situations and feelings, adding further appeal to this hip, reassuring guide filled with straightforward, honest advice.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2009, American Library Association.)
