DOGO Books
mussogirl77 - Maddie and Louisa are best friends who are living in Chicago in the middle of war. It is not a safe place for children to be so Louisa parents are going to send her to a boarding school close to the border of Canada. Maddie parents are both in the war so Maddie pretends she's Louisa's sister so she can go to the boarding school as well. On the ride there they meet a girl named Evelyn. She has a theory that the school is really a secret Alliance(the enemy of the U.S.A) training school. Louisa is not buying it because her and her new friend Rosie love the school. They have cool classes like how to survive in the wild or how to build a bomb or how time start a fire. But Maddie and Evelyn are not buying it. Though it sounds crazy, is it possible that Evelyn is right and her and her friends are being trained to work against their own country? Read the book to find out.!

In the first book in the Tomorrow Girls series, set in a future America rocked by natural disasters and war, 13-year-old Louisa is excited about leaving her Chicago home for boarding schoolâand freedom from the watchful eyes of her wealthy parents. She even has her best friend Maddie with her, disguised as her twin sister so they can stay together. Unfortunately, the Country Manor School turns out to be a remote school in an unknown location, cut off from phones, mail, TV, and the Internet, where the girls are stripped of all personal effects, the grounds are patrolled, and there's a strict curfew. Along with roommates Evelyn and Rosie, the girls know they need to find out the truth about why they've been brought there. Gray's solid writing will grab readers as she plunges her characters into an unsettling situation, and questions and discomfort build. Only Louisa's character gets much development, and the political background is a tad thin, but the three sequels (due throughout 2011) will likely address these minor drawbacks in an otherwise promising story. Ages 10âup.
