The car accident that killed the rest of her family spared Ever's life but gave her psychic powers. She can hear thoughts, sense auras, and see dead people. She's coping, barely, when sexy Damen transfers to her school and shakes things up. She can't read his mind, but he can sense her thoughts and knows everything about her. Narrator Katie Schorr has a wonderfully raspy, youthful voice, which she puts to good effect on the cast of teenaged characters. The fantastic elements of the story blend well with a story of adolescent angst, and Schorr demonstrates exuberance in portraying all the drama.
