This second installment of the True Love series finds Eros, a goddess in this series, setting out to make her second true love match after being drained of her powers by Zeus. Calling herself "True," Eros lives with her mother, Aphrodite, in a little town in New York, both having been banished to Earth until Eros can make three matches without her golden arrows. In this outing, she spots her own true love, Orion, as a new student in her high school-but he has no memory of her at all. Distracted, she almost misses her chance to reunite longtime pair Peter and Claudia, after Peter, upset by the changes graduation and college will bring, suddenly breaks it off. True strategizes with Claudia, but a ruse to make Peter jealous backfires when Claudia starts to fall for the hot new guy True sets her up with. Worse, it seems that some gods jealous of Eros might find their ways to Earth. Scott keeps the tone light, focusing much more on comedy than mythology, with the exception of a subplot concerning Hephaestus. She has good fun with her concept, with True still unable to fit in with contemporary teens but unconcerned about that problem. It's another light romp through high school romance, with an exotic paranormal twist. (Paranormal romance. 12-18)

Gr 9 Up-True Olympia is back and on a mission to fulfill Zeus's requirement that she help three couples find true love without the benefit of her powers and restore Orion's memory so that they could reunited. These seemingly simple tasks are fraught with several complications: her powers are returning and that makes using them all the more tempting, Artemis has discovered True's role in freeing Orion is out for vengeance, and True has discovered Hephaestes's history with Aphrodite which brings up questions about his motivations for helping her. With all the godly goings-on, it's tough to focus on finding and uniting the final two couples. Complete Nothing recounts True's second match between Claudia, one of True's first earthly encounters, and Peter, the high school quarterback. Claudia has her life together and is focused on her goal of getting into Columbia. Peter is afraid of a future in which high school was the best time of his life. In a bid to preempt the heartbreak of Claudia moving on, Peter breaks up with her. True comes to Claudia with the perfect plan to make Peter just jealous enough to reunite the two. Nothing seems to go as planned and each member of the formerly happy couple faces seductions that make this title appropriate for a more mature audience. Scott's characters are predictable, but the angst they face and the decisions they make are relatable to a teen audience. This standalone sequel will appeal to those who loved the first and will whet the appetites of those awaiting the next entry in the series.-Jodeana Kruse, R. A. Long High School, WA

Grades 7-10 Erosstill in disguise as human girl Trueis having a very bad week. Orion, the boy whose love got her banished by Zeus, is on earth and at her school, but he doesn't remember her. Her powers are mysteriously coming back. She's under the gun to set up another perfect love match without using those powers. And she's not sure how much she can trust family friend Heath, aka Hephaestus. This sequel to Scott's Only Everything (2014) is just as fluffy but with a bit more spice. Star quarterback Peter's struggles with identity and his fears of a future beyond high school are poignant, and his reasons for breaking up with his longtime girlfriend, Claudia, are believable. However, the football booster club's fawning over the team and the portrayal of bad-girl cheerleader Josie might grate on the nerves of budding feminists. True makes some charming new friends, though, which helps round out the high-school setting. Another cliff-hanger sets the stage for book three, and readers of the first two books will be waiting.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2014, American Library Association.)
