Katy loves her Mennonite community but yearns for knowledge. After receiving permission from the elders, she begins attending public high school and meets teens different from herself. Their influence brings her into conflict with her family and community. VERDICT This YA series launch by a popular CF author ("A Promise for Spring") will also appeal to adult readers and brings a new dimension to the ever-popular Amish subgenre, focusing on the more modern Mennonite sect that, while embracing modern comforts, still lives simply.
