PreS-Gr 2-Megan Owlet has always been there to support her three older brothers while they're participating in their favorite activities. She was the loudest clapper, most enthusiastic cheerer, and was really good at getting the crowd going. But one day, Megan doesn't want to sit and watch her brothers anymore. She wants an activity, too. She tries things her brothers love-basketball, karate, the violin-but none of them is right for her. However, when she tries ballet, she finds that it's something she enjoys, but she's nervous because she isn't as good as the other girls. Megan soon realizes, though, that her brothers are there for her just like she was there for them and the love of her family gives her the courage to dance in the recital. Lovely illustrations in a light, pastel palette complement Megan's story, which is simply told, easy to read, and makes an effective read-aloud. It will be especially resonant with children who have older siblings and are searching for their own ways to shine. The themes of determination and individuality resonate with readers who will be cheering Megan on just as loudly as her brothers do at the end of the story. VERDICT A fine addition to most general picture book collections.-Paige Garrison, Aurora Central Public Library, CO
