Hazel "Hazy" Bloom has a secret power: she can see what will happen tomorrow. The white third-grader can't control her visions, but they're always right (well, not always), and one day she has a vision of receiving something she wants more than anything else in the world: a pet iguana. As much as Hazel wants an iguana, she wants even less to be in charge of Pet Day, the class FUNdraiser, or "(not) FUNdraiser," as she refers to it. Her BFSB ("best friend since birth") and "tomorrow power sidekick," Elizabeth (grayscale art suggests she has brown skin), points out that this is the perfect way to show her parents she's the "most responsible person on the planet" and then they will get her an iguana. Still, Hazy remains less than thrilled with her duties, and every effort to show how responsible she is results in belly laugh-inducing mishaps. Hazy's visions are rather...hazy; are they real or coincidence? Perhaps they're self-fulfilling prophecy? No clear answer is provided, leaving it up to readers to decide. Hazy narrates the story in her believable first-person voice.Readers who enjoyed Hazy's shenanigans in Hazy Bloom and the Tomorrow Power (2017) will "for real live" have fun with this second adventure. (Fiction. 7-11)

Grades 2-4 Poor Hazel (Hazy) Bloom desperately wants an iguana, but her chances of getting one are slipping away. Every time she tries to show her parents she can be responsible, something goes wrong. At school, the third-grade FUNdraiser Challenge is coming up, and Hazy's class needs a project. Thanks to one of her tomorrow power visions, Hazy suggests Pet Day, which the class loves (great!) and votes her into the position of project leader (not so great!). Now, she's in charge, but can't get organized without her best friend's help. Two days before the event, Hazy surprises her parents with her dedication to the school project, effectively demonstrating her ability to handle responsibility. Hamburg's second entry in the Tomorrow Power series, following Hazy Bloom and the Tomorrow Power (2017), offers young readers another hilarious story centered around family and friendship, with enough action and conflict to propel the plot. As with the first book, Harney's delightful pen-and-ink drawings are quirky and expressive, adding even more humor to the already funny text.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2017, American Library Association.)
