Was it the disgruntled janitor who would need to work on a Sunday or the 6-year-old unhappy about going to work with his mother or one of the dancers displeased with her role in the production? Leave it to Nancy Drew, a student at the ballet school, to solve the mystery, with the help of friends George and Bess. Nancy Wu is an unobtrusive narrator who lets the events unfold with nary a hint of foreshadowing. She aptly voices the emotions of the young sleuths, at times eager and at times despondent in their quest AND the imperious temperament of the ballet mistress. A.R.
