The late Covey (The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People) was both a successful business book author and an astute observer of the human condition. As outlined in this posthumously published work, his research and work with people from around the globe led Covey to conclude that true success lies in moving from a life limited by external trappings to a life of peace, wisdom, and satisfactionâwhat he called primary greatness. The insightful essays included here, many written while Covey was formulating his famous seven habits, explore "levers of success" such as integrity, contribution, sacrifice, and service. The essays delve deep into these principles to help readers incorporate them into their daily lives. From loyalty and reciprocity to renewal and diversity, these are the character-defining traits without which Covey believes no one can truly succeed. Inspirational and motivating, Covey's words resonate, whether he is pondering the concept of fairness or extolling the value of a love of learning and the search for wisdom. Covey's legions of fans around the world will flock to this slim but influential collection about the greatness dormant inside all of us.

According to the late Covey (The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People), primary greatness is the kind of success that comes from contribution--a life of duty, honor, integrity, and dedication. Secondary greatness--prestige, wealth, etc.--sometimes but not always follows its path. The principles, or levers of success, as Covey calls them, are comprised of sacrifice, contribution, loyalty, diversity, and teaching, all specifically designed to improve the world and the people who inhabit it. VERDICT Covey's words are an antidote to the current society's values of hype, glitz, and winner-take-all. Highly recommended.
